Taped live at the 2008 Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles, this red
carpet, star studded television event honors the achievements of acclaimed
actors, artists, activists and filmmakers from America, Africa and African
Diaspora. Honorees include independent filmmaker Charles Burnett, actor
Idris Elba, actress Taraji P. Henson and Rev. Dr. Della Reese who will
receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. Highlights include an exciting look
at the 100 quality films featured in the festival, a special tribute to
acclaimed filmmaker St. Clair Bourne and the reveal of each honoree's DNA
test results tieing them to Mother Africa. Presenters include actors Vanessa
Williams, Louis Gossett, Jr. and Jimmy Jean Louis; actor/director Bill Duke
and filmmakers Julie Dash and John Singleton. Felicia Mabuza Suttle host of
The Africa Channel's flagship series Conversations with Felicia will present
The Africa Channel Creative Achievement Award posthumously to Senegalese
filmmaker Ousmane Sembene.
