 The 16th Annual Pan African Film Festival Opening Night Gala Always a star-studded red carpet affair, the The Pan African Film and Arts Festival (PAFF) Opening Night Gala was attended by Hollywood celebrities, elected officials, African dignitaries, civic and community leaders, filmmakers, and more. The evening included a screening of the film NAMIBIA: THE STRUGGLE FOR LIBERATION starring Carl Lumbly, Danny Glover, Joel Haikali, and Obed Emvula. The film's director, Charles Burnett, as well as Carl Lumbly held a Q & A after the screening. The Africa Channel cameras were rolling, capturing the excitement of the evening as celebrity after celebrity walked the red carpet and spoke with our very own Lynn Wiley, Communications Manager for the Channel.

 The 16th Annual Pan African Film Festival 'A Night Of Tribute' On February 9, 2008 The Africa Channel produced The Pan African Film Festival’s 'A Night of Tribute' as a two hour television event. Taped live in Los Angeles at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center, 'A Night of Tribute' honored the lives and bodies of work of pioneering film and visual arts talent including independent filmmaker Charles Burnett, Rev. Dr. Della Reese, actor Idris Elba, and actress Taraji P. Henson. Presenters included actors Vanessa Williams, Louis Gossett, Jr. and Jimmy Jean Louis; actor/director Bill Duke and filmmakers Julie Dash and John Singleton. 'A Night of Tribute' premiered worldwide on The Africa Channel on February 22, 2008.
