SHIRLEY NEAL, is a veteran TV producer and production and marketing executive with over 20 years experience in the broadcast, cable, and live event arenas.
Her impressive TV production credits extend to The Travel Channel, A&E, NBC Enterprises, TV One, CBS, Spike TV, and TV Land among others. As a production, development and marketing executive, Neal has held positions with Fox Television, SI Communications, The National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE), and her own Park Hill Entertainment.
Neal founded Burbank-based Park Hill Entertainment in 1992 as a video production and marketing firm specializing in broadcast production, live event production and video promotions. Neal's producer, executive producer, and writer credits on Park Hill's broadcast and cable productions include, TVOne's Living With Soul, Travel Channel's Suite Luxury, NBC Universal's The Remarkable Journey, and 6 seasons of The Los Angeles Emmy Awards, among others. In the short form arena, Neal shepherded demos, promo campaigns and electronic press kits for Park Hill clients including Fox Television, the WB, NAB (The National Association of Broadcasters), NATPE (The National Association of Television Program Executives), and HRTS (The Hollywood Radio and Television Society), among others.
The Cleveland native, and Cleveland State University Communications and Theatre arts major began her professional career in Los Angeles in 1979 as a secretary for Metromedia Television's KTTV, and as a part-time actress in local theatre with frequent appearances on TV sitcoms. In 1981 she served as the station's Senior Creative Director overseeing all on-air promotions, and as a Staff Producer for the station and station group (PM Magazine, Black Ladies of Song, A Michael Jackson Celebration, They Dreamed of Being First, plus various telethons).
After 8 years with KTTV and later the Fox Network, Neal joined Burbank-based SI Communications, as Vice President of Video Production, to develop and operate the TV division of the radio production firm. While at the helm of SI, Neal developed and executive produced programming for syndication, cable, and international distribution including A Laugh, A Tear: Black Comedy in America, hosted by Whoopi Goldberg and featuring Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx, Arsenio Hall; The Other Side of Victory, hosted by Arthur Ashe, and featuring Tiger Woods, Venus & Serena Williams, and Muhammad Ali; and Red, Hot & Cool, hosted by Nancy Wilson; among other series and specials.
Following a three-year stint at SI Communications, Neal served for three seasons as producer / writer of the syndicated series Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous, and as a producer writer of various cable and syndicated programming including A&E's Biography, TVLand's Inside TV Land, The U.S. Olympic Festival for Fox TV, 3 seasons of the National Leukemia Telethon, and as co-producer of syndicated specials including, Tuskegee Airmen, and World Gospel.
In 1994, Neal became Director and later Vice President of Video Production for NATPE. In this newly created position, Neal oversaw all live and video tape production for the organization's seminars, events, and Opening Ceremonies (featuring Cirque du Soleil, Blue Man Group, Howard Stern On-Location), and the production of all short and long form videos including the televised Careers in Broadcasting, and From A to Ziv, a comprehensive history of TV syndication, distributed on DVD.
